Working Student – Data Scientist (m/f/d)
Your role in the Data Science team
You work in a small team that turns complex data into results our clients can rely on. Statistics, mathematics, software for real world tangible problems. You take on your own tasks from the start and work with the same tools as the rest of the team.
As a Work-student-Data Scientist (Werkstudent:in) you write Python, automate recurring analyses and reports, and use AI tools as part of your regular workflow.
Your tasks
- Statistical analysis for a range of application areas: food, consumer protection, environment, materials, biomedicine.
- Develop and maintain agentic workflows for data analyses, modeling and reporting.
- Development and extension of our web-based software solutions.
Use of AI tools and agents to support analysis, prototyping, and documentation.in statistical analysis for varied use-cases like food, consumer protection, environment, materials, biomedicine, etc.
Desirable
- SQL, pandas, NumPy, or R.
- Web technologies such as FastAPI, Django, or a JavaScript framework.
- Docker, CI/CD, or LaTeX.
Your profile
- You are studying computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering or a comparable technical subject.
- Practical experience with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or GitHub Copilot. You can write effective prompts, judge where agents are useful, and check their output critically.
- Sound knowledge of Python, ideally including experience with application development.
- Confident use of git: branches, commits, pull requests, resolving merge conflicts.
- Interest in statistics and in understanding code produced by coding agents.
- Willingness to work into new topics independently.
- Clear and open communication, also with colleagues from other disciplines.
- You live in or near Dresden and can work 10–20 hours per week.
- Very good English, written and spoken. German is a strong plus
